Staff Profile

Mr. Carlson began working at Dayton's Bluff Elementary in 2019 and has worked for SPPS at both elementary and secondary levels. In addition to his Masters degree in Social Work, Mr. Carlson has a Bachelors degree in Theatre with a performance emphasis from the Univeristy of Minnesota.

Professionally, Mr. Carlson is passionate about trauma informed practices and has had the opportunity to present around the state of MN and around the country at conferences and schools about how to create safe, predictable, trauma-informed school environments. 

When Mr. Carlson is not at Dayton's Bluff, he enjoys hiking, camping, wrestling, writing and performing spoken word poetry, and traveling. He has been fortunate to travel many places around the world but his favorite trip was a three-week adventure in Australia! 

Mr. Carlson grew up in South Dakota, but now lives near White Bear Lake with his wife, three children, and their dog, Kingsley.
