Holly Krech Thomas began teaching English Language Learners (ELL) at Dayton's Bluff in 2020, after teaching for over a decade in higher education and at elementary schools in the Twin Cities. She has worked with learners of all ages, but most recently with kindergarten, first, and second graders. With a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Linguistics, she is committed to bringing fun activities that are grounded in research on learning into classrooms.
When she is not teaching at Dayton's Bluff, Dr. Krech Thomas can be found riding her bicycle to run errands around town, gardening, cooking, singing in the church choir, and playing the piano (but not very well!). She also enjoys reading, whether it is the latest research on learning and the brain or a classic work of fiction.
Dr. Krech Thomas lives with her family in Eden Prairie. She and her husband have plenty to do with four school-aged children and a rambunctious dog to keep them entertained!
It is a great pleasure for Dr. Krech Thomas to work with young language learners and their families at Dayton's Bluff. She loves getting to know students and seeing their delight in learning and discovery. She hopes all students become lifelong learners who engage with their community and their world.
